Catalogs of DH type-III bursts – README

This directory contains two tables covering solar flares events that occurred between December 2006 and January 2025, with source longitudes within |55^°|.

Tables

1. gC5flare_TypeIIIFlx_200612-202501.csv

This table contains all DH type III radio bursts associated with >C5 class soft X-ray (SXR) flares. The HTML version of this table is: DHtypeIII_cat_web.htm

Columns include:

• Type III burst properties: Date, start time, end time, duration, peak flux, integrated flux
• SXR flare properties: Date, start time, peak time, flare rise time, flare class, flare flux, flare source
• Time_wrt_pflr (min): SXR flare peak time minus type III peak time (in minutes)
• CME properties: CME space speed, CME width, presence of DH type-II (0: No; 1: Yes)
• SEP properties: Peak proton flux in >10 MeV channels (pfu);
  • 0 = confusing / unclear association
  • -1 = no SEP event
• GLE occurrence: -1 (No) or 1 (Yes)

2. gC5_noTypeIII_200612-202501_web.csv

This table contains all >C5 class SXR flares for which no DH type III burst was identified. The HTML version of this table is: SXRflare-noTypeIII_web.htm

Columns include:

• SXR flare properties: Date, start time, peak time, flare class, flare flux, flare source
• Closest DH type III (if any): Peak flux and Time_wrt_pflr (min)
• CME properties: CME space speed, CME width
• SEP properties: Peak proton flux in >10 MeV channels (pfu);
  • 0 = confusing / unclear association
  • -1 = no SEP event

3. S-typeIII_events.csv

This table contains all >S-type-III bursts identified during DH type II bursts during the period of late 1997 to 2025-01-01. The HTML version of this table is: S-typeIII_web.htm

Columns include:

• DH type-II burst properties: Start date, start time, end date, end time, start frequency, end frequency
• confidence: 1: Confident detection of a S-type-III 0: Likely S-type-III feature
• SXR flare properties: Flare source, GOES class, peak flux
• CME properties: CME date, time, space speed, CME width
• SEP flux: Peak proton flux in >10 MeV channels (pfu);
  • 0 = confusing / unclear association
  • -1 = no SEP event
