LASCO and EIT observed a full halo CME today, 2001/01/10. The event was
first visible as a bright front above the E limb in C2 at 00:54 UT. It
later extended over all PA, although it remained faint in the SW. The
measured speed in the plane of the sky was 642 km/s at PA 100 (SE limb).
EIT observed an eruption, with associated dimming and a coronal wave, from
AR 9306 (N11 E43), beginning at 00:24 UT. A C5.9 X-ray flare was reported
by GOES, beginning at 00:23 UT.
Images and movies of this event are available at the LASCO ftp server:
ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20010110.
Best wishes,
Simon Plunkett.
