LASCO and EIT observed a full halo CME today, 2000/12/18. The event was
first visible in C2 as a bright front over the N pole at 11:50 UT. It
later extended over all PA, but remained faint in the S. The measured
speed in the plane of the sky was 345 km/s at PA 0 (N pole).
EIT observed a flare, with associated dimming and wave event, in AR 9269,
located at about N14 E03. The EIT event began at 11:12 UT. The flare was a
C7.0 X-ray event.
Images and movies of this event are available at the LASCO ftp server:

Best wishes,
Simon Plunkett.
