LASCO and EIT observed a probable partial halo CME today, 2000/12/14. The
event was first seen in C2 as a bright loop over the S pole at 10:26 UT.
It later developed faint extensions along the E limb and to the SW,
extedning over about 145 degrees from PA 95 (E limb) to PA 240 (SW limb).
The measured speed in ther plane of the sky was 475 km/s at PA 180 (S
pole).
EIT observed an eruption, with associated EUV dimming, in AR 9264, located
at about S24 E26. The EIT event began at about 09:48 UT,m and was probably
associated with the LASCO CME.
Images and movies of this event are available at the LASCO ftp server:
ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20001214.
Best wishes,
Simon Plunkett.
