Subject: Four halo events on 2000/11/23 and 2000/11/24

Status: O

LASCO observed four halo event yesterday (2000/11/23) and today
(2000/11/24). Three of these were full halos and one was a partial halo.
The times of first appearance in LASCO C2 are given below.

Date & Time Comment

2000/11/23 06:06 UT Full halo, begins in SW. Faint in NE.
2000/11/23 20:30 UT Partial halo in SE, extending over S pole.

2000/11/24 05:30 UT Full halo, beginning in NW. Increased
				particle flux follows in LASCO.
2000/11/24 15:30 UT Full halo, again begins in NW. Also
				increased particle flux.

I have not yet had time to sort out the origins of these events, or to
measure their speeds. However, it seems likely that the two events today
(11/24) were associated with the X-class flares observed by GOES. More
detailed reports on these events will follow later (probably tomorrow).

Best wishes,

Simon Plunkett.
