LASCO and EIT observed a full halo CME today, 2000/10/25. The event was
first seen in LASCO at 08:26 UT, as a bright loop with core above the W
limb. It later extended to all position angles, although it remained
brightest and most structured in the W. The measured plane-of-sky speed
was 620 km/s at PA 270 (W limb).
EIT observed activity over a wide range of longitudes, from AR 9201 at
about N18 W27, all the way round to behind the W limb. The EIT
activity began at about 08:24 UT. Thus at least some component of this
halo event may be Earth directed. A class C4 X-ray flare was reported
beginning at 08:45 UT.
Images and movies of this event are available at the LASCO ftp site:

Best wishes,
Simon Plunkett.
