LASCO and EIT observed a full halo CME late yesterday, 2000/10/09, and
continuing into today. The event was first seen as a bright front over the
NW limb in C2 at 23:50 UT, and later developed into a full halo extending
over all PA. The measured plane-of-sky speed of the leading edge at PA 320
(NW limb) was 718 km/s.

EIT observed a flare and coronal dimming in AR 9182, located at N02 W18,
beginning about 23:24 UT. A C6.7 X-ray flare was reported beginning at
23:19 UT. This flare and dimming are probably associated with the halo
CME.

Images and movies of this event are available at the LASCO ftp server:

Best wishes,

Simon Plunkett.
