LASCO and EIT observed a faint halo CME today, 2000/09/25. The event was
first seen in C2 as a faint front in the SW at 02:50 UT. It later
extended over all PA, although it remained very faint in the W. The
measured speed in the plane of the sky was 402 km/s at PA 90 (E limb).
EIT observed a M1.8 flare and filament eruption in AR 9167, located at
about N15 W28, at 02:12 UT. This flare and filament eruption may be
associated with the halo CME.
Images and movies of this event are available at the LASCO ftp server:
ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20000925.
Best wishes,
Simon Plunkett.
