LASCO and EIT observed a halo CME on 2000/09/16. The event was first seen
in C2 at 05:26 UT as a bright front over the W limb. It developed into a
full halo, extending over 360 degrees. The measured speed in the plane of
the sky was 692 km/s at PA 290 (NW limb).
EIT observed a M5 flare in AR 9165, located at N14 E04, beginning at about
04:12 UT. This flare was probably associated with the CME.
Images and movies of this event are available at the LASCO ftp server:
ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20000916.
Best wishes,
Simon Plunkett.
