LASCO and EIT observed a third halo CME on 2000/09/15, in addition to the
two events reported earlier by Kevin Schenk. This event was first seen in
C2 at 21:50 UT as a faint front over the S pole, and later became a full
halo extending over 360 degrees. The measured speed of the CME in the
plane of the sky was 370 km/s at PA 180 (S pole).
EIT observed a C7 flare from AR 9165, located at about N14 E01, beginning
around 21:12 UT. This flare may be associated with the halo CME.
Images and movies of this event are available from the LASCO ftp server:
ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20000915c.
Best wishes,
Simon Plunkett.
