Subject: Halo CME on 2000/08/09
Status: O
LASCO and EIT observed a full halo CME today, 2000/08/09. The event was
first visible in C2 at 16:30 UT, as a faint front over the N pole that
later became a faint structured halo at all position angles. The measured
plane of sky speed at PA 0 (N pole) was 575 km/s.
EIT observed a complex eruption in AR 9114 (located at about N11W09), and
in the region to the East of this, beginning at about 16:00 UT. This
activity was located very close to disk center.
Images and movies of this event are available at the LASCO ftp server:
ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20000809.
Best wishes,
Simon Plunkett.
