Subject: Halo CME on 2000/02/10
Status: O
LASCO and EIT observed a full halo CME today, 2000/02/10. The event was
first visible in C2 over the N pole at 02:30 UT and later extended over
all position angles. The plane-of-sky speed of the leading edge was 845
km/s at PA 340 (NW limb). Note that this speed measurement includes data
from C3 only - the precise location of the leading edge was difficult to
identify in C2.
This CME was associated with a C7.3 X-ray event in AR 8858, located at
N27 E01. EIT observed a flare and coronal wave from this region
beginning at about 01:25 UT.
Images and movies of this event are available at the LASCO ftp server:
ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20000210.
Best wishes,
Simon Plunkett.
