Subject: Full Halo CME on 2003/11/12, backsided
Status: O
LASCO observed a full halo CME on 2003/11/12. A bright
loop front was first visible in C2 images at 10:54 UT
spanning from the NW to SE; by 11:30 this front had
developed into a full halo CME. A bright loop front was
visible from the NW to SE in C3 images at 11:18 UT and
had developed to a full halo CME by 11:42 UT.
EIT running difference images show evidence for a far
backsided eruption from 11:00 UT, with peak activity
at 11:36 UT. This event has therefore been determined
backsided.
Note that the asymmetry of this CME in the C3 images
coupled with the EIT signatures are more consistent
with the likely position of old AR 0488 as opposed to
old AR 0484 which could shortly rotate over the E limb.
Best wishes,
Gareth Lawrence.
