LASCO and EIT observed a partial halo CME on 2003/01/24. The
event was first observed in C2 at 04:54 UT as a faint loop
front over the SE limb; by 06:54 UT the front spanned 142 deg
from PA 355 - 137, though the extensions to the N pole were
extremely faint. The front first appeared in C3 at 06:42 UT with
maximal coverage of the C3 occultor by 09:18 UT. The mean
plane-of-sky speed for this event was 283 km/s at PA 110,
with a highly linear height-time profile. Please note that
the CME does not show up at all well in the C3 image and
movie.
The CME was probably most associated with a flare observed by
EIT between 03:12 - 04:24 UT with peak emission at 03:36 UT,
centered around S22E10. SEC records a M1.9 X-ray event from
AR10266 at S22E10 between 03:01 - 04:17 UT with peak emission
at 03:26 UT. An EIT dimming, but no wave, were observed in
association with this event, largely to the N and S of the
active region.
