LASCO and EIT observed a partial halo CME on 2002/11/09. The
event was first observed in C2 at 13:31 UT as a bright loop
front over the SW limb; by 13:54 UT the front spanned 195 deg
from PA 90 - 285, with possible very faint extensions in the
NE. The front first appeared in C3 at 13:42 UT with maximal
coverage of the C3 occultor by 14:42 UT. The mean plane-of-sky
speed for this event was 1757 km/s at PA 242, with slight
acceleration possible through the fields of view.
The CME was probably most associated with an M4.6 X-ray flare
in AR0180. GOES records this flare between 13:08 - 13:36 UT
with peak emission at 13:23 UT, centered on S12W29. EIT
observed the flare between 13:13 - 13:36 UT with peak emission
at 13:25 UT centered on S11W27. Both an EIT wave and dimming
were associated with this event, both largely directed to the
S and E of the active region and flare.
