Subject: Halo CME on 2000/04/10

Status: O

LASCO and EIT observed a full halo CME early today, 2000/04/10. The event
was first visible all around the C2 occulting disk at 00:30 UT. Some
structure was visible over the NW limb, but mostly the CME was fairly
faint and featureless in the LASCO images. The plane of sky speed measured
at PA 300 (NW) was 201 km/s.

EIT observed a flare in AR 8948 (S15 E01) beginning around 23:36 UT on
04/09 (GOES class M1). This flare was accompanied by coronal dimming and a
wave that are most visible to the north of the active region in the EIT
images.

Images and movies of this event are available at the LASCO ftp server:

ftp://ares.nrl.navy.mil/pub/lasco/halo/20000410.

Best wishes,

Simon Plunkett.
