LASCO and EIT observed a full halo CME on 2001/08/25. The event
was first observed in C2 at 16:50 UT as a bright front filling
the SE quadrant, and was a full halo CME in C2 by 17:27. The
front first appeared in C3 at 17:18 and was a full halo there by
18:42 UT. The mean plane of sky speed of the front through both
instruments' fields of view was measured as 1130 km/s at PA 120
(SE) with slight deceleration during the entire passage.
The CME was most probably associated with an X5.3 X-ray flare in
AR 9591, centred at S17E34. GOES detected this event between
16:23 - 17:04 UT with peak emission at 16:45. The event appeared
to commence in EIT at 16:25 UT with peak emission at 16:48.
Post-eruption loops are clearly visible by 17:48 UT. Both an
EIT wave and dimming were observed in conjunction with the CME,
and both were largely directed/located to the S of the AR
Images and movies of this event are available at:

Apologies for the belated notification of this CME.
Best wishes,
Gareth Lawrence.
